Hawks have 4 D signed right now. 3 of them are righties. Hawks decline. They'll make it work but it's gonna cost pit atleast a 1st.

Add the '26 2nd to the Petry deal and the Hawks might consider it.

I hope he doesn't go anywhere and then he gets hurt and has another underwhelming season so San Jose is stuck with him in a prolonged rebuild that gets Grier fired.

Karl actually had an only ok season. He was dynamic in the PP but 5v5, he was top 5 but not the best dman ever.

CHI would see Petry as a cap dump purely because the only need in the trade is PIT's need for cap space, CHI doesn't need him. BUT, I really think PIT fans are too hard on Petry and that he isn't the problem. If they can find a way to keep him around this season and utilize him properly, I think he will prove that he can be an asset. I also think PIT could probably get something for him next summer if they are willing to retain. But, I didn't watch a ton of him last season, I'm just basing my opinion on his career as a whole and the cap increasing significantly next summer.

You're actually spot on in terms of Petry. His defense is actually still very good. His offense took a step back and that's why people are all over him. I think he stays as well.

To CHI he would be a pure dump, though. But, there might be another team that wouldn't view him that way, and might take him for cheaper because they actually have a need at RD.

Sure. But, again, salary would have to go back. That's how every trade works.
