I needed to add an extra center, Marincin is younger, and a second round pick is possibly a steal for Martinez, also good to shed cap space. The JVR deal, well we needed first line scoring, and I didnt want to lose more draft picks than i already had on a team that has, at best, a very short championship window, and I frankly believe more in Gravel and Ladue's futures than Forbort's, I understand I am in the minority on that. Frankly Muzzin would not have been enough to get JVR, and he is a thirty goal scorer. JVR also plays similarly to Ryan Smyth, and Kopitar played some of his best hockey between Williams and Smyth. But I can definitely see how they can be percieved as bad trades, especially the JVR one.

I don't like shipping out Lewis for a 4th round pic. He is a solid defensive player IMO. Its not about the pick, but I think it leaves a hole on the PK
