Right on. Incoming "Leafs on the brain 24/7" members saying it's a bad deal.

I think even the leaf haters would have trouble with this one. "should have signed him longer, short sighted deal" lol.

There's nothing wrong this deal, obviously you want more term and you already have enough work to do with resigning Nylander/Matthews, now you throw this on top of it.

Great signing. Leafs fans lately have loved hating on Tre but Dubas hasn’t been able to bring a forward of this calibre in since Tavares. Wouldn’t be surprised to see him hit like 70 points.

Dubas signed Eller, Accairi and Graves.

Bow down to the GM of the decade.

Too much money and term for Boston, eh...

Well, it was pretty much that. If he was willing to take one year at $5.5M, I'm 95% sure the Bruins would have found a way to make it work.

"On a contending team" 😋 Bruins weren't in the conversation.

No contender was close to $5.5M for a long-term contract*. Bruins didn't want to go long-term and rightfully. If this was a shot at the Bruins, it's a miss because I'm aware they aren't a Cup contender anymore (unlike another Atlantic team) and signing Bertuzzi didn't really makes much sense.

What a steal. I still remember when he went beast mode in Detroit and blocked two shots preventing an empty net goal(like three seconds later one went and he looked livid)
I don't really get the term or the destination though. He seemed like a guy destined for Boston, Nashville, Florida or even back to Detroit.

Clifford on LW, did you see his penalty shot goal for the Marlies last season>?

Clifford is an Elite goal scorer.

Is the expectation really that RR is gonna play 1st line minutes? Isn’t he a career 4th liner?

It’s a joke.

Seems like a lot for a fragile guy who will probably be watching half the season from the press box.

That and his poor defense is why I wouldn't give him $5.5m

I think people including me would have concerns with this signing something along the lines of
1. He doesn't play defense
2. He can't stay healthy

He doesn't do much good if he spend a good part of the year up in the press box

Oh my god, the summer of Brad is upon us!

I adore this deal. It doesn't interefere with the Matthews / Nylander extensions, doesn't committ an unruly amount of term to a guy that has dealt with injuries, and allows us to renegotiate a contract next year when the cap raises. This is just a perfect fit and a perfect scenario for the Leafs. Brad is not screwing around

A reminder that they just gave $4M to a guy they hope will still weight 230 lbs when he is 40.

Brad is…doing something.

1) 10 points in 7 playoff games, is very much something the Leafs don't have. Leafs have enough "can play defense" forwards to cover for him.

2) he's not a regular season acquisition. They already had a good enough team to make the playoffs. He could actually do them a lot of good in the press box *cough* Kucherov, Stone *cough cough*

Doesn't really matter now, does it? I've never seen people freak out so much for a deal that is easily buried in the minors. Only in Leafs land...

I think people forget that the Leafs have iced an entire bottom 6 of guys that play defense for the last few years, only for it to completely blow up in our faces. The core 4 gets shut down and it's game over. Now that we resolve that issue, we are dumb for not having all defensively minded guys? Ridiculous

This has been a much better day for Leafs fans. I can't see many being upset over these two signings.

but that doesn't change the fact that Toronto plays offensive style hockey and sacrifices a lot of defense.

This simply isn't true and hasn't been for years. Continuing to parrot this just outs you as someone who doesn't know what you're talking about

The guy who builds teams that lose in the first round while mortgaging the future

Edit.. Slipped some..

Think Sweeney did what he could here though. Going all-in from their position upon last season, was questionable.. However, with last season behind us, really nothing to expect but downfall. Can't see how Bert would make B's situation any different.

Good signing from TOR, just wondering how they gonna get under the cap now?

Bertuzzi - Matthews - Reaves.

Name a better line. I’ll wait.

Lucic - Kassian - Reaves

Name a better line than that...

Absolute speedsters right there

TOR really missed out.

I still wish I would have saved the post from the EDM fan who got very angry at me and defended Kassian as a great signing.

I think this has to be the most jinxed player in the NHL right now...

In the past 4 games alone:

2 disallowed goals and 4 toe saving goals...

Hopefully Tre waits until playoffs as this dude should pop off...
