Per David Pagnotta of The Fourth Period, NJ is engaged with several teams in a sign and trade with Yegor Sharangovich. If this is true, where do you guys see him going and what could the contract look like? Let me know what you guys think.

What is the point of a sign and trade? I don't get it.

i think colorado would be fine with this, he would pretty much replace erod from last year bouncing from 2-3W and at 3 mil thats a solid price

That's what David Pagnotta reported. What is the point? That's a good question. Depending on how much Yegor wants, me personally, I'd like to keep him.

He's a great PKer, good skater, great shot but doesn't use it nearly enough. But, he's streaky. When he's hot, he's hot. When he's cold, you don't notice him at all.

yeah no different from the guys we've had in that 2W/3W spot from the past few years e-rod and burky were the same way in that spot except didn't play pk, streaky but at the end of the day good value

They should sign him to one-year low AAV deal…would still be RFA in 2024.

From Colorado POV?
Giving up the MTL pick if it means you can just easily resign him right away may be worth if the alternative is offer sheeting him. Means you don't have to worry about anyone else jumping in for the cost of an early 2nd vs your own late 2nd the following year as RFA comp. Plus a lot of GMs don't take too kindly to their players getting OS'd so it can be a bit frowned upon.

It only matters for giving him 8 years, signing bonus and buyouts I believe. If it's after January or December a traded player can't sign 8 years with the new team, only 7. Bit of a stretch to sign him that long and a risk for NJ if he ends up being bought out. All of this is not likely, probably just a simple trade

I was a bit confused as to what they meant by the question. Assumed they meant "What's the point for COL to do this rather than offer sheet" since they're a COL fan, but could've been several reasons they asked the question.

The term is obviously the main reason to usually see a pending RFA traded like that, but obviously doesn't apply here like you mentioned. I think it's valid for COL to be willing to pay up a bit though to just get his rights and not have to worry about an offer sheet and the implications of that or another team outbidding.
