You'll have to give Bonino more than 2 million. Pens will either resign him for more, or some team will throw $$$ at him. That Kane trade is a stretch.

Trade is definitely a stretch. I took the benefit of the doubt just because Poile is a wizard (see: Forsberg, Filip). $2 million is about fair for Bonino I think. His production has pretty much plateaued since the year before he signed this past contract and that was $1.9 mil AAV. Even if it is too little, this left $1.7 mil left over to work with. I think the Thornton and Bonino moves actually happen - Kane was just a stretch move to fill it out. That being said, I do think when the Duchene talks inevitably fall through Poile looks to a secondary move for a forward similar to that.
