Making this team somewhat competitive

Created by: MoForNorris
Team: 2023-24 Detroit Red Wings
Initial Creation Date: Jun. 7, 2023
Published: Jun. 7, 2023
Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Description
1. Chiarot being bought out I understand is unrealistic but we're trying to make this team good, and the buyout for 6 years under 2mil is actually fair. Honestly don't think we could ever move him so this is the smart option.

More assets for goaltending, how much draft capital do we have to give up, add Husso, Ned and what Cossa costs it's starting to add up.

Meh, this trade is about the 2nd. Nothing else really matters to us.

Given Cat has given a list of 10 teams and assuming he gets traded to one of them, that’s prob the return I’d expect

Depending on how far Cossa is in reality from the NHL, Swayman is 24 years old rn and can easily split the season with Husso, which we really need considering Jarry wants 5-6 years ig for a 29 year old. I'm assuming Cossa is 2-4 years away

Sens want all those 3 assets, young forward a first this year and a 2nd this year aswell. Likely if you want a guy who can score 40 that's the cost

I think it's safe to assume he's put Detroit on the list, Michigan boy and grew up a Wings fan. Maybe the second gets downgraded to a 3rd depending on the competition for him

Still a B class D prospect Viro? But we have an excessive amount of left shot dmen and have to move someone. Spare 4th and 7th don't mean much though, neither does Ned who could be of interest if they wanna use Ullmark more

Swap Berggren for Kubalik otherwise it's just too much. Berggren has the value of a first plus #17 is likely closer to the value #7 was last year. This is more than they paid for him with one less year of team control and a more expensive salary. I won't mention anything about scoring less cause I don't think it's really a factor. If he does have a 10 team list, and Detroit being one, I think our negotiating power would be a little better. I think a fair deal would be something like #17, Kubalik and our 3rd this year. Or if Berggren is the centre piece then Berggren and Vancouver's second this year. If that's not enough then we just happily select a high end forward at #9, a high end forward or defenceman at #17 and best players available in the second round and move on. With the holes on this roster adding Debrincat wouldn't make us a playoff team.

Also why buy out Chiarot? I know he isn't great but he brings some toughness that we are lacking. Also I guess Schenn bought a house in Toronto and plans on staying for cheap.
