Ovechkin Wants Another Go

Created by: Lokidum
Team: 2023-24 Washington Capitals
Initial Creation Date: May 14, 2023
Published: May 14, 2023
Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Description
The idea behind this team is that Ovechkin wants the Caps to constantly be trying to compete until he retires. While I think it's time for a rebuild, this team is based on the idea of truly going all in. Whatever is coming up from the farm? If it has value move it to win now. Picks? Focus on winning move, move those as quickly as you can for people that can help us now. This team is one where you could easily roll 4 lines and not worry about what pair of D you are sending out there, with all of them being solid options. After this season? Well... It would be dark, dark days. But in the face of another potential title shot? Go bananas.

I don't know why you would target Appleton. I would think there's a similar player you could get for less elsewhere. The Jets like Appleton but they say yes for that price.

Is this a try not to die laughing challenge for STL? Bro, I hate to be the one to break it to you, but you clearly do not understand the trade value of anything. You have a gamut running all the way from comical dream on fleeces to "why on earth would you do that?" gifts.

I would love this to happen. Mostly because it would be fun to see the Capitals in such cap hell that they can't even replace an injured player unless they go on IR.

STL is on the way down, and they are getting picks and Kuznetsov at a solid retention. With that retention they can easily flip him at the deadline for more picks or prospects. Dean is really just a throw in to make it look nicer. This whole thing is also a joke lol.

Don’t see why they would though. I live in VAN and go to a lot of game, and getting paid to take Garland off their hands and getting a solid bottom 6 guy who is cheap seems to me like a pretty solid deal for VAN.

Straight off the top, there may be situations where somw team thinks this offer is too good to be true.

However, I can guarantee you the Blues are not dealing Dean, who they love, for an expensive problem child fresh from a big drop-off season that they don't need and wouldn't want anywhere near the kids, and a couple maybe high picks three drafts from now isn't going to convince them. Not even close.

so the caps give away all of their futures and run out a worse team than last year?????

can't decide which one is worse, using an unprotected 25 1st (when the team will almost certainly be terrible) to dump kuzy, giving up 8oa for mangiapane, or trading the two defenseman in Jensen and TVR that they just extended for cap space

Some coke would at least make the Blues a bit more exciting to watch

This is meant to be pure chaos, and as in the description disregarding the future for the hope of a single season lol. Just taking the piss with this one.

The Blues certainly do not lack for excitement. They led the league in rush goals. We could use a little less excitement and a lot more get back to the system.

you can completely disregard the future while also making sensible additions to the team, they don't even consider all of these except maybe the garland deal
