Likeable Red Wings draftfree agency

Created by: MoForNorris
Team: 2023-24 Detroit Red Wings
Initial Creation Date: May 12, 2023
Published: May 12, 2023
Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Description
Sorry Red Wings fans, but one more season of mediocrity maybe on the horizon. Players such as Perron, Kubalik, and Fabbri are likely trade deadline candidates. Copp, Maatta, and Walman are 2024 offseason trade candidates aswell. With Raymond, Berggren, and Mo being RFAs in 2024 the next year will setup the future.

Trades
1.
DET
  1. 2023 1st round pick (PHI)
PHI
  1. 2023 1st round pick (DET)
  2. 2023 2nd round pick (VAN)
Additional Details:
This is assuming that Montreal selects a RHD or Zach Benson, giving Arizona Will Smith. High price to move up 2 spots but this gives Detroit the choice of Moore, Leonard, and Perrault. Pick your poison Stevie.
2.
DET
  1. 2023 5th round pick (NYR)
Additional Details:
With their expected strip down/retool maybe this is his destination?
WPG
  1. Chiarot, Ben
Additional Details:
He is valued by teams in the league surprisingly, but it is not high trade value. Moving him out frees up a spot on the left for either Edvinsson, Wallinder, or Johannson
3.
DET
  1. 2023 2nd round pick (EDM)
EDM
  1. Zadina, Filip
Additional Details:
Just needs to go. Take a 2nd or a 3rd for him honestly.
4.
DET
  1. Walker, Sean
Additional Details:
Either Walker or Stecher for that bottom pairing will do, just need a guy for that bottom pairing, especially a right shot.
LAK
  1. 2024 4th round pick (DAL)
5.
DET
  1. Francouz, Pavel
Additional Details:
Their cap situation this offseason could turn out to be horrendous for the Avs. He has a small sample size but is rather decent, should be a target.
COL
  1. 2023 5th round pick (NYR)
  2. 2025 7th round pick (STL)

See the more recent DRW teams that were made and flyers comments on that. The price to move up from 7 to 9 in my opinion is worth another 1st or at least 2 2nds. Imo the drop off after 7 is huge and 1 2nd is nearly enough. See my fully explanation on another team from this morning.

Not a single team is paying more than a 5th for a guy going to the KHL once his contract is done.

I think that we'll get better offers than a future fourth for Sean Walker even though he's a rental -- at least a third, and maybe even a 2023 third.

How does this deal make any sense for the Jets? They don't have the cap space, they are already too deep at LHD, they don't need to get older, and he's overpaid. If the Jets thought he was worth that much they would have resigned him as a free agent instead of letting him walk.
