Could see this happening in like 2 years. Not this offseason but the next

MTL aren’t giving u half of that for Crosby. Maybe another team, but not MTL. The 6th OA alone is worth more than Crosby. Crosby is great, but he’s also like 35, he’s not getting 6th OA, and A prospect, and 2 A-/B+ prospects, plus another 1st

Canucks decline. They're stuck with OEL whether they like it or not, won't pay the price required to get rid of him especially seeing what they gave up for him.

The sooner they do it, the more they'll get.

Maybe but at the cost of 1 1st, they can clear up 14MM. They would think about it.

Really? He's 35 but a point per game player who hasn't shown age getting to him. He might be one of the best of all time and could play for another 5 years as a PPG player. He is well worth 5 prospects, 2 of whom might work out.

I think they might. 4 more years of a 7.3MM drain and when he's finally gone, they have an 8MM drain in the form of 35yo Miller for 3 more years. By my math that's 7 years of a large drain and puts Petterson and Hughes into their 30s.

I would bet all of these trades would be accepted, with minor tweeking, if the Penguins were thinking logically and not emotionally.

Miller is worth his deal not sure what that has to do with this, there is zero chance they move a top 10 pick to dump a contract they have already come out and said they aren't willing to pay the price, after next season OEL is very buyout friendly deal, we can move Myers this offseason which clears 6mil this upcoming year. As for these other trades no I am sorry but all of them are pretty far off and heavily favor Pittsburgh

Personally, I would consider paying a 1st to dump OEL depending on where the 1st is. However, paying a 1st plus Boeser to dump a guy like OEL is the exact opposite move that this management group would make based on what they've talked about and how they view the team.

I know Guentzel is a great player, but the Kraken are pretty deep on the wing already. Trading Wright, Nyman, and a first for another winger when their talent pipeline is so new probably isn't the greatest strategy for them.

I think we should this offseason, but realistically they will push it off another year or two when they're not even competitive for a playoff spot

Miller is not worth his deal. He is a really good offensive forward who is 30. His contract will age terribly as he hits his mid 30s. 8MM per for ages 30 - 37 for an offense only player? Good in the beginning, bad at the end.

They heavily favor Pit? How so? Established players are almost always worth more than prospects. Malkin, a PPG player for 4MM a year? Letang, a great RD D, for 4MM a year? Guentzel for 3MM a year? Yeah, definitely worth the prospects.

That's fair. Perhaps a 2nd. Boeser is too similar to Miller (offense only) and I think this season has scared Van management because the offense fell off for most of the season. I think they want to move both players but you could be right, that the pick would be too high.

The Kraken are deep at wing but Guentzel is a top 10 winger in the NHL and Eberle's contract is up just in time to pay Jake. He is young and talented, worth the prospects.

Wow that wild deal….. now that’s funny. Could be the worst deal you have on here. That’s a very easy no from the wild.

Really? A top RD D who skates well, is a leader, and plays a strong and fast game, for 4MM AAV. Let's look at his contemporaries in his age range:
Justin Faulk: 6.5MM
Drew Doughty: 11MM
Alex Pietriangelo: 8.8MM
Brent Burns: 8MM
Jared Spurgeon: 7.5MM
John Carlson: 8MM

So yeah, Letang at 1/2 the cost is worth the prospects.

Rofl nope far from it. You don’t trade 3 of the best core prospects for a team getting younger for a player who, while great, is well past his prime and has far more term than any club would be willing to take on….. unless it’s a club legend. Horrible deal for the wild. I’m surprised you didn’t add wallstedt to it too. Seems fitting with this thread

Ha ha ha. I like your enthusiasm. I believe we'll have to agree to disagree. I undervalue prospects for established players because I don't hang my hat on hope. Others feel different and I appreciate their optimism.

I am saving these trades to see if any of these prospects have panned out in 5 years. My guess is 2 or 3 out of 10.
