If Lindholm is wanting 9mil, he can walk and try to find it elsewhere. He would be hard pressed to get more than 7mil. He is likely to get a 6.25x8, like Cirelli and J. Staal (6x10 shrunk to 8 years is 6.25x8).

Horvat just got 8.5 and you’re on something if you think Lindholm would be hard pressed to get more than 7 on the open market. Guys a legit 1C and that’s an easy 8.5 plus. Kadri got 7 as a early 30s 2nd line winger

Lindholm is an above average 2C, who put up 1C numbers when he got carried by Gaudreau and Tkachuk when he was played at 1C out of necessity. As for Horvat and Kadri, they got overpaid for having career years. For a defense first C like Lindholm, 2 really good comparables are the deals that Cirelli and J. Staal signed. Lindholm heavily relies on his linemates for a bunch of his offense.

CGY will look to Re-Sign Lindholm for similar to what Gabriel Landeskog Re-Signed for ~ $7mil x 8yrs, so with inflation maybe $7.5mil OR $8mil x 7yrs I could see Treliving giving him $8mil x 8yrs if he's still around given the $$$ and contracts he's handed out most recently and given what Horvat & Kadri just signed for = TOO MUCH, but Landeskog is really the best comparable and hopefully Lindholm is happy and wants to stay in CGY for the remainder of his career. Horvat is almost a year Younger, which is a slight consideration as well

I see Backlund Re-Signing for ~ $2.5-3.5mil/yr x 1-2 more years if he's still feeling Chipper & Healthy, so that frees up $1.85-2.85mil to go towards extending Lindholm right there
