Just saying but the Devils would've won the Metro if there weren't three disallowed goals vs Toronto....

Honestly the point that got away for me isn’t that game. It was the first Nashville game where the Devils held the lead late in the period, had a PP in the last 3 minutes and then gave up the tying goal with like less than 10 seconds left in the game and then proceeded to choke in OT. That was the difference for winning the division.

1-9-1 in the middle of December. It was a pretty rough patch.

I think I would include Sharangovich over Boqvist. Yegor is probably our best PK'er after Nico...and if NYR PP vs NJD PK is going to be big factor in this series, it would be nice to have our best penalty killers in the lineup. Also, Yegor has historically stepped up in rivalry games and against the Rangers. (Boqvist has not).

As for 3LD, I could talk myself into all three options. I think I would go Bahl with 12F/6D (or Smith+Hughes if we play 11F/7D).

Bo has been pretty good on the 3rd line and he’s also been PKing a bit. I keep him there to start game 1 but if the PK is having issues I’d be fine swapping him out with Sharangovich but to me Bo has earned his spot in game 1. Bahl should 100% be D6, he too, has earned it.

I feel like Bahl is leader among the 3LD candidates. But if we dress 7D, having the diversity of Hughes for offensive situations and Smith for face-punching situations, could be an interesting scenario.

Well, that stunk. Was about as half-hearted a showing as we have seen this year (really, the 1st period). Hopefully it is a learning point for a young team.

Changes I’d make -

Boqvist sits. Not sure what he adds in a playoff series. If they were going to use him to shadow Zib with his speed, I’d get it. But at least Sharangovich at least helps our PK.

Wood or Bastian sit. Lazar in, even if it’s for one game to show Miles and Nate what a wrecking ball looks like.

My 1st ever playoff game and the worst game I’ve ever been to all wrapped in one. Extremely embarrassing effort.
