Must go by next year

Created by: mdog98

Initial Creation Date: Oct. 18, 2022

Description
players that must go by start of next season. We know will be entering a rebuild if they do it next year we can avoid a long rebuild and have a quick rebuild.

i think Studnicka can easily be moved for a second
grezlyck can be a good trade piece for a high pick and prospect.
rielly and forbort are must goes
Ullmark is tradeable any where after this season and he would be taking away playing time from swayman when he is clearly heading towards the #1 spot next year.

if we can get some free agents here are my toughts. as you can see
signing some of are reserve list would be a good step aswell as letting the older guys walk.

debrusk is dependant cause if he as an career high season over expectations he can be good to keep or be perfect to get a late first round pick and prospect. but will keep him for this instance.

Oh dear... not only do you imagine Grz gets Broberg, but that the Oilers also need to add a '23 2nd? Bruh.

Studnicka is no longer worth a 2nd, especially in a great draft

fair point i guess it depends if they use him this year and he gets something done but i think another team would be interested on taking him for a third. and a team that would use him of course

To second this I don't think there is anything any team could do to get the sharks to give up one of their first two picks in this draft

I know it said "could be any team", cant see it being buffalo. There aren't many teams that are looking for left d. Seems like the markets saturated for left d. I kinda hope that if the Sabres are looking to move on from their undersized depth left d, that they opt to look for a bigger/tougher upgrade.

ya the market is saturated i guess we would have to see more in the summer where teams are at and where they feel their teams are heading and how grezlyck performs of course. also I meant for the studnicka trade to be the pick of the 2024 draft

The Kings are one of the few teams that could use left d

that is true the arm chair was more to say that if boston wants a quick rebuild these guys would need to go absolutely cause you cant have a quick rebuild without giving away stronger guys. Rebuilds also require giving rookies ice time to adapt and that has been bostons issue theyre always filled with veterans and these rookies never get a shot at playing which sucks cause studnicka was wasted and is still wasted talent sitting when he can clearly develop in the NHL on a team than can use him. I dont want to see this happen to our top D prospect lohrei so the best thing to do is put him at NHL next year while we basically have a mediocore year but a high pick for 2024

-Ullmark's NMC makes him a lot harder to move than this. If you're trying to retool, I don't see why you'd drop him off - Swayman is a fine goalie, but no GM has ever complained about having too many good goalies. As long as the vibes are still fine and the guys are fine splitting time, why not keep Ullmark & Swayman together? Especially if you're only gonna get back peanuts for Ullmark - you've got the cap ($4.5M in cap space + that $1.25M you gave Phoenix Copley is more than enough.)

-Forbort's probably a Dmitry Kulikov situation - he's got a 3 team NTC so you can pretty much rule out Arizona as a destination, and I think it's more likely a team with space just takes him on as a free player without Boston needing to retain.

-Mike Reilly has always been worth a 3rd, Dave.

-Huge overpay from the Oilers - Broberg will be a 22 year old LHD with ELC time remaining; Grz will be 29 with $3.7M left. If anyone's adding a pick to that deal, it most certainly wouldn't be Edmonton.

-This trade is the main reason I'm responding to this ACGM: what in the world has Jack Studnicka done to be worth a 2nd rounder? Seriously - he's been fine in the AHL and has done squat in the NHL. You can sign guys like him for under $1M every single summer, so why is a rebuilding team like the Sharks giving up what's most likely a top-40 pick for him??

Why do any of these players have to go? Why is it a known that the Bruins will be entering a rebuild?

Frankly, none of this makes sense aside from moving reilly.

aging offensive group no center depth. dont get me wrong defense is young and solid but only way to get pieces for the future is to trade one of those strong Ds away to get a high pick. mcavoy lindholm are def off the table. at this rate boston will enter a rebuild but a short term one if they can start drafting well and high next season 2024 draft.

You moved precisely zero players from the aging forward group out. You moved relatively young defensemen, a goalie in his 20s, and the closest thing the bruins have to an NHL ready young center for….bode Wilde and some lottery tickets? You didn’t get any high picks. Nothing good was acquired. Absolutely horrible.

You do know that NTCs and NMCs exist, right? And Mike Reilly is not worth a 3rd round pick lmao.
