Your not getting a Top prospect for a guy on his last year that will most likely have regression and will be 30 yrs. Who is saying in public that he will close talks with the team once the season begins. Think realistic

“On his last year”

He’s being extended. It’s not a rental.

Regardless these two teams don’t fit because this offer is garbage and the Isles aren’t giving up Raty/Dobson/Wahlstrom

Miller has had a better supporting cast as well. Giroux plays on a team with 0 finishing talent

Teams are paying for offensive production which Miller is clearly superior in. Doubt they care TOO much about defense when it comes to a rental. Miller has 217 points in his last 202 games. Giroux has 165 points in his last 198 games. There is a big difference there. If we are being realistic here, contenders likely have a good supporting cast, therefore Miller should continue to succeed. Miller is definitely the better player over Giroux, its not really a question

Giroux is elite offensively as well and a better track record of being an elite point producer - plus he brings much more in every other aspect of the game. He had 31 points in 28 games as a Florida panther.

At worst they are equal, which is why Miller won’t get more in a package

Did you miss the part where JT Miller has 217 points in his last 202 games whereas Giroux only has 165 in his last 198? Better track record? Maybe 3+ years ago, but right now in the current day, Miller is better than Giroux was when he was traded. Unless Miller falls off a cliff, I can't see him getting such a poor deal. Miller also brings other aspects other than just points. It was also pretty wildly known that GM Dumb Fletcher got fleeced in that trade as well

Girouxs has been the better even strength player over the past 3 years. Do you not think teams look at per 60 rates?

Even strength points per 60

20-21 season
Giroux : 2.04
Miller : 1.97

21-22
Giroux: 2.45
Miller: 2.49

Miller produces more on the powerplay because he plays with a bunch of elite shooters. He had 8.96 points per 60 last season. Giroux obviously had lower , until he was traded to Florida where he clicked at over 10 points per 60 min because he was able to play on a PP with guys like Huberdeau and Barkov

Right. So Giroux succeeded more when he was playing on a contender team. Is it unreasonable to assume Miller's game could also be elevated by playing on a better team? I mean imagine how many points he could get passing to Ovechkin. Even so, Fletcher clearly undersold on Giroux, doesn't mean Allvin has to undersell on Miller.

Miller plays with some of the best PP shooters in the NHL plus arguably the best PP QB in the league. He’s never going to be in a better situation than he is now.

So what’s an example of a player approaching 30 being sold at the deadline for than a 1st, 2nd + B prospect?

So what's an example of a player scoring basically 100 points in the previous season being sold at the deadline. Players like Miller are not common, finding comparables is very difficult

Taylor Hall won the MVP in 17-18 with 93 pts in 76 games, two years later he was traded for a 1st rd pick and a few B prospects
