Team: 2022-23 Vancouver Canucks
Initial Creation Date: Jul. 22, 2022
Published: Aug. 6, 2022
Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Description
2 trades round out the team, ~even money and position us to resign Bo and JT.

1. Vince Dunn and Morgan Geekie
Best player here would be Garland going the other way. Seattle isnt competing for some time, Poolman is a cap dump. I would say this is close to even value given that Dunn is a RFA in 1 season (alongside Geekie) and has yet to beat his 2018-2019 season totals across the board (albeit playing on a worse team then STL). Garland has a value contract and is signed for a while yet which is a good player to build around.

2. David Savard
Similar contract and age to Pearson. Canucks add a B level prospect where there was interest from MTL alongside a later round pick.

If you can afford Savard, you really don’t have to give up anything. Montreal probably doesn’t want his 3.5 million cap hit.

Yes this is just what Montreal needs, move Savard and promote Barron to 1RD then Harris 2RD and Wideman 3RD. All the while adding a 16th winger and 4th NHL goalie into the mix! our lineup then becomes

Caufield-Suzuki-Anderson
Slafkovski-Dach-Dadonov
Drouin-Dvorak-Gallagher
Hoffman-Evans-Armia
Pearson-Pitlick-Byron
Pazzetta
Edmundson-Barron
Matheson-Harris
Guhle-Wideman

Price
Allen
Montembault
Depietro

Did they raise the cap or does Montreal just get a free pass on being over the cap?

How about lose a year of the cap hit and move other assets? MTL is rebuilding not competing.

We do not need to move salary out, we have enough cap space now to sign everyone. We would like to move players but not if it means that we have to pay to move them and definitely not when the return is another LD prospect or winger!
