Don't know how Colorado values Girard but you aren't getting returns like that for the other players unfortunately.

Devils don’t really have any space for another middle six winger.
They could try and make room for Puljujärvi however.

Dallas doesn't need Barrie anymore, they have enough defenseman

As an Avs fan, I don’t think it’s worth it to trade girard to keep Kadri. I still think Kadri is after a long term deal at a AAV that will hurt us down the road. Girard would be a great fit on the oilers though and I think your trade isn’t too far off. Avs will still be a top team if they stand pat.

Would be a good bottom 6 producer for their team and can also bring physicality to a young roster.

Do they have an offensive-defensemen replacement for Klingberg that is a PP 1 option?

I agree but from what I hear Colorado is still talking with Kadri in making something work so they clearly want to bring him back. I feel if an offer like this came to clearup cap space for Kadri they’d jump on it. With Byram coming up they also arnt in desperate need of Girard so I feel they could comfortably make this trade.

Yes, they have Heiskanen for PP1 and Harley for PP2

Offensively Barrie is an upgrade to both players.

LOL no he isn't. Miro is much better than Barrie offensively, he just never got to consistently show it because that was Klingberg's role. Now that he's gone Miro will be able to get all the primary offensive opportunities. Right now Barrie is better than Harley, but Harley is 3.5m cheaper and has more upside than Barrie, as he is only 20 years old. Barrie is only good on the PP (which isn't hard to do when you're out there with McDavid and Draisaitl) so it would make no sense for the Stars to trade for him and then have to bench another defenseman who offers more than Barrie at 5v5 and on the PK

Your right side for defence is very weak and he could easily fill a spot there. And Barrie would be your best offensive defence men on the team.

Our right side definitely took a hit with Klingberg leaving, but Miro plays on the right side so its not as bad as people think. There just isn't a roster spot for Barrie, and let's stop pretending that he is a good defenseman. Barrie only had 5 more points than Miro last year (in 3 more games too) even though Barrie was on the 3rd best powerplay with two of the best players in the world and was the primary offensive option on D, while Miro was on PP2 with a bunch of bums (Benn, Suter, Gurianov, Radulov) and was the second offensive option on D and on a much worse offensive team. But yet their point totals were very similar. Tyson Barrie is not a better player in any aspect than Miro Heiskanen, and anyone who knows anything about hockey can tell you that.

Barrie > Girard

Poor asset management - sending out a greater assets for an inferior player with a higher cap hit.
