Not even close to Mangiapane. Only value to Calgary is the pick

Very nice of Chicago to take 7.3 million off your hands like that, but you gotta pay us to do that.

Right, and a rebuilding team has little use for Kerfoot, a player turning 28 before the start of next season so no, the Hawks aren't doing this deal.

Notice how I didnt say anything about the players. This is strictly about the money, Toronto is the one in a cap bind no one is going to do any charity for them. Kerfoot is pretty good but mrazek is bad and has term, they dont cancel each other out and you clear a ton from the books.

Teams flip players all the time and if chicago can get ketfoot for that they make out like bandits on the flip, especially if the want to retain and boost kerfoots value with power play time with kane or whatever.
Either way the leafs would just trade him for value instead of this

I think Devils lose this trade, Leafs need to provide more value.
Nylander is fantastic (obviously) but the #2 pick is more valuable than two years of Willie.
Abruzzese doesn't really do anything for an organization with one of the deepest prospect pools in the league.
Similar with Robertsson, though he's a better prospect than Abruzzesse for sure (his inability to so far crack the Leafs lineup is worrying however).

Those three pieces may entice the Devils to move the #2 pick alone.
But adding the Woods to the deal requires another significant piece coming from the Leafs.
I can only really see Liljegren to be of interest here.

Chicago is not the place to be highlighting players next season for trades; they are tanking so there goes that theory. Secondly, Chicago would have to get a 2nd at least for this to make sense, and they are not going to want to take that risk just to help the Leafs remove 2 players from their cap problems. As widely reported it's going to take a 2nd or a prospect at least Abruzzese level or better.

If kerfoot has that much value then Toronto can trade him to somewhere that actually wants him then take the return they get and give it to the hawks for taking mrazek off your hands. Why should the hawks have to do the work? That way Toronto still clears the cap and there's no more risk for the hawks. Easy peasy

Except this is what rebuilding teams do, they buy low and then sell high. If they can get kerfoot or a guy like him its free money at the deadline at least. He is that 2nd rounder.
Nor to mention that the hawks still need players to play, especially if they are having a fire sale for guys like debrincat strome etc.
Not saying the hawks do this (the leafs 100% dont anyway) but there is more than enough value here for them.

That's exactly what i said the leafs would do with kerfoot, and then they'll just buy mrazek out or trade him will a mill retained for a pick or ahler who needs a change of scenery, maybe both.
They certainly arnt going to pay anything of value to move him

Cool. Can you inform the rest of Toronto then cus it's getting pretty old seeing the same mrazek to chicago trade 30 times a day.

That's about what it costs to dump 7.6 mil in cap nowadays. Especially if you're Toronto and everyone knows how ridiculously cap strapped and desperate your gm is.

Not really, people said it would take a 2nd or 1st to move ritchie's 4ish mill owed and it basically came down to the difference between a 3rd rounder this year and a 2nd next year. So like a late 3rd at best.
Throw in that mrazek actually put up decent numbers when he wasnt hurt and it wont take anything near a 1st

My take; Sandin and a 1st is enough for Magiapane. Flames get Holl. Flames need cap space for tkchuck and Johnny Hockey contracts.
If BHawks dont take Kerfoot and Mrazak, someone will.
Copp is a UFA and proven playoff player. Will get $5k.
Magiapane is a RFA. Will get qualifying offer.
Peace&Love.

I actually think moving Tavares would clear more problems for Toronto. I know he’d have to waive his NMC and understand that he a point per game player. That said, imagine if you could fan that $11m across a couple of different players to balance out the lineup. No disrespect for Tavares but a 2nd pair D, a 2nd line Center and maybe another piece would go a long way. Despit my allegiance to the Hawks, would love to see the Leafs win it.

Except the Hawks hold out for assets they want like a 2nd round pick or Abruzzese instead and say no to Kerfoot, in other words, getting Kerfoot instead of the other two assets is not buying low and selling high it's simply a wash at best and Hawks are taking all the risk here. Hawks don't need Kerfoot, they need to play their young guys so they will hold out for a 2nd or Abruzzese or let the Leafs find someone else.

Is that the second overall from the Devils? Who are we drafting? I'd hope they'd be in the lineup.
