Pay Day for 13 and 19

Created by: jcambers
Team: 2022-23 Calgary Flames
Initial Creation Date: Apr. 20, 2022
Published: Apr. 20, 2022
Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Description
If you're giving 13 and 19 (roughly) $10M each, with room leftover to re-sign 44, 58, and 88, then you're going to need to ship off about $8M. And, if you want to restock your draft picks a bit and give some youth, like Pelletier and Ruzicka a shot (which I know Sutter is not a fan of), you'll have to ship off even more salary than that. Here's my bold moves...

MTL says no IMO but I’ll let them talk. The rest aren’t bad but I’m not sure how MIN fits Backlund without too much movement on their end. Hartman and Ek seem solid and adding backlund might not be feasible

Isles should say yes since there are in house replacements (Johnston, Panik, etc.) but Martin in a Lou guy and doubt he would trade him unless asked too by Martin.

Minnesota doesn't consider that. Are you aware of the cap situation they are in?

Nah, its a pretty easy no from Montreal. I think Boston passes too. Vancouver considers it, but I think they'd rather pass. Minny deal is a steal for them, but they don't have the cap space.

Habs arent paying for Monahan. They'd gladly swap contracts like Hoffman and Armia or take the whole contract for a 2nd or 3rd rounder

Send Minnesota Rasmus Andersson and you got a deal! All jokes aside, Middleton is a stud and Backlund is a 33 year old bottom 6 center who has a cap hit we can’t afford.

What he said. I get the feeling that Martin signed his 4x$1.5M as a potential "last contract" to retire on the Island. He's also incredibly easily buried (I think he'd cost like, $350K against the cap?) so I'm not too stressed about having him around anyways.

Are you being serious? He's one of the best defensive centers in the NHL.

So is Joel Eriksson EK and Freddy Gaudreau. Middleton is the shutdown defender we needed who is only 26 and an RFA. Why would Minnesota trade our 1st pairing D man for a 33 year old bottom 6 center who is producing at a lower clip than all of our top 3 centers?

I'd love to have Lucic back for a year, but the Bruins can't afford his entire cap hit.

So you want Boston to do you a favor a take on Lucic's $5.25 million contract for basically nothing, this way you can re-sign your key players?

Neither are at the level of Backlund.

And MIddleton isn't a 1st pairing D-man, take the homer glasses off.

And by the way, Middleton has been a 1st pairing defender ever since he arrived in Minnesota. Just because he doesn’t score 80 points a year doesn’t mean he’s not a top pairing defender.

I don’t know what to tell you, he’s been on the 1st pairing with Spurgeon ever since he’s arrived and he’s been great.

Way too much change going on here

Gaudreau is getting max term 100%

Mangiapane contract sucks, not enough term and underpayment

No chance Kylington signs that

Have you even watched anything about wild or Joel Eriksson ek? Or freddy? Or jacob Middletown? Joel Eriksson ek is one of the best shutdown c in the game along with Marcus foligno and Greenway. Also jacob Middletown has playing with Middletown on 1st d since getting to MIN

All of those teams decline, especially the Canucks, that's maybe the worst Miller trade I've seen on here
