Great signing on talent, but an odd team to be signing another goaltender -- unless they don't offer Sawchenko a contract for next season, they'll have 6 goalies on the books.

Gaudreau stays in juniors, Chrona stays in NCAA. That leaves Hill, Reimer, Kahkonen, Emond and Mann. Chunko probably the odd man out along with Stalock (who should retire) Hill likely traded. Reimer has been way too good to trade and Kahkonen is in the teams future plans.
When someone tells San Jose to stop getting goalies
When you have goalie problems for four years straight I guess you get a bit paranoid. Buying out Jones was the best decision Wilson made in the last four years.
Can’t believe he wasn’t signed after last year’s NCAA season ended. Guess GMs really don’t like shorter goalies.
He's not even that short at 6'
His numbers in NCAA, Olympics and SHL have been elite level
On top of all that he seems like a great kid. I think we got a steal here.

I agree. 6’ isn’t short at all. He’s taller than me. Lol. But for a goalie in today’s NHL GMs for some reason want these guys to be monsters.

Yup, all signs point to Gaudreau and Chrona staying where they are, and they're probably planning a tandem of Chunko and Strauss for the Cuda - which would be a HUGE improvement over the leaky sieves that we've got in net right now. No offense intended to Emond or Stalock, but they're both painful to watch.

As a Michigan fan, I was so confused when he headed to Europe last year, but yeah, the height thing scares off a lot of the more timid GMs. Also, I checked my twitter, and the first time I said anything about wanting him for the Sharks was December of 2020, so I'm over the damn moon about this!

Chunko had almost equally as bad numbers as Emond with the cuda. Emond is 3 years younger and with a full summer of work could be better. That's the direction I'd go.

I’m also a huge Michigan fan. Growing up I wanted to wear that striped helmet so bad. Lol my dad even sent me to Michigan hockey camps in the summer. But yeah, equally as confused when NCAA ended and he went unsigned.
Should be a good pickup for the Sharks, but not who i expected to see sign him. Was a fan of Mann to Washington until we signed Stevenson, but I thought teams who could use goalie prospect depth like Chicago or Seattle would have bit.

Though I'd love to see him in Chicago, it's pretty obvious that they have no interest in doing anything that could make that team better, which would include upgrading in goal. lol
