Fair deal; this is probably a nothingburger. Callahan's offensive production dropped like a stone this year, but perhaps he can rediscover it with the Providence Bruins.
Sometimes players in deals like these become really good, like John Marino. Other times they don't, like Nolan Vesey. Which one will Callahan be? Only time will tell.
Boston gets a local kids they've kept eyes on as he's played in their backyard. 3yr Captain (which is impressive), has a decent shot and could probably be a decent two-way 3rd pairing d-man.
Arizona gets a 7th rounder and while it only has a 10% chance to being a player that plays 99+ games, there was a 0% chance that Callahan was signing.
Callahan wasn't gonna sign in Arizona, good for them to get a pick for him. Boston could've just waited till ufa, but okay.
Small ARZ Win.
Problem is every team has a chance of signing him. BOS probably wanted to secure him and not potentially have to pay expensive signing bonuses that perhaps other teams would. Jacobs are probably stingy like that LOL. I voted fair
this is why you don't let NCAA guys go 4 years without a deal.
they couldn't sign him. He walks or they get basically nothing back in a trade.
