I don't see the Leafs trading Mikheyev. He is super strong, fast, defensively reliable, he generates a lot of chances. They love him.

They unfortunately won't have the cap to resign him this off season unless they trade Marner.

All that's left is convincing the Flyers that Engvall, Ritchie, and Dermott are worth more than zero in a trade.

That isn't happening. He's the only player on the team that plays on the #1 unit in every situation and is also first or second in team scoring. What he provides the leafs, you would be hard found to say there is 10 more guys in the league that can do that. IMO

Engvall and Dermott definitely have value. Both very serviceable players. Ritchie on the other hand does not. He has negative value but it isn't crazy crazy negative.

I don't know enough on Konecny to have an opinion on this trade. But retaining 2.75m for 4 years on him seems super rough and probably a none starter.

I am not saying they should trade Marner. I said they won't be able to re-sign Mik unless they move a guy like him. Only way they move on from Marner is if they tank hard in the playoffs and get a super big package from a team. I would love to resign Mik but I don't see it being a realistic option. He will get 2.75m to 3.5m a year on his next contract.

Agree, the real problem is Dubas gave everyone including the equipment manager a NTC or NMC. So it's going to be tough next year with Rielly's raise plus Sandin, Liljegren and Kase all needing new contracts.

They have a few guys in the minors who will be given a shot. Their team looks very good next year as well already. Dubas has been doing a solid job managing this. Biggest thing I would have done differently was to give Marner 9.5m a year instead of 10.9 but next to that there are very few complaints. He has overall done a very good job.
