17/18 - Trading Schenn

Created by: DirtyDangles
Team: 2017-18 Philadelphia Flyers
Initial Creation Date: Mar. 19, 2017
Published: Mar. 20, 2017
Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Description
Gives the Isles help for Tavares and help behind Griess since Berube doesn't seem to be able to handle the NHL. Isles are going to lose a D to expansion likely so this also gives them an auto protected D man.
Flyers get the RHD they are looking for along with a young forward who has under-performed.

Help the Isles???? A div rival? Giving away a 1st line point production forward for a softer fwd who has issues with his skating?

Love Hamonics game but with our D up and coming, this is a lateral move. Who in our system or via free agent near Schenns age will fill his scoring ?

    Doesn't make sense.

If we are going after a RHD I'd rather it be a team that isn't a rival, esp at the expense of Schenn - no real huge issue with trading him but def not to the Isles.

Well for one, Konecny can replace his scoring. Also, Strome has proven in the past that he can produce at this level. He is still a skilled player. If you are worried about PP production, maybe try Couts in the high slot where Schenn plays and see what he can do and let Strome QB PP2. I don't think filling Schenn's scoring will be an issue. The main part of this deal is getting a top 4 shut-down RHD. I would be fine if we could do this trade then move Gudas whenever Myers is ready. Package Gudas with someone and get a top 6F in return.

lol TK can replace it? Schenn has more PP goals than TK has in all situations. Schenn has almost more goals than TK has in points. Dude you say the most outlandish things that are such false statements its unbelievable.. TK will be good (hopefully), but I seriously can't think someone believes a second year 20 year-old is just going to jump up to being as productive as Schenn...

It won't be immediate but this team isn't a contender now or in the next 1-2 years with or without Schenn. Schenn is a PP specialist and is awful 5v5. I would prefer a shutdown defender over him any day. Any semi skilled player can sit in the high slot and shoot onetimers when G puts it in the wheelhouse.

Schenn for Hamonic seems like a fair trade off IMO. Remove the rest of the trade. Both young. Both signed long term. I'd say Schenn is probably a bit higher in value but Hamonic cost a good 1.5M less per year so the trade off is that.

Both teams get something they need too.

Schenn is on of the least productive players that we have given a 5v5 situation. A 20 year old that could replace him is Sebastian Aho. Kid has north of 20 goals this year. They need to snag a player that can play good defensively and score goals on the PP (Hanzal) to replace Schenn.
