Way Too Early 19/20 Season Roster Projection?
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>CaptJosef</b></div><div>Weal doesn't work out for you then? I'd probably think that Weal and Vecchione in the lineup still over Dove-McFalls and Aube-Kubel but who knows!</div></div>
I think base on time frames both Weal and Vec would still be in the Flyers lineups rather than Dove and AK, I think AK is much closer to a 4th line spot than Dove.
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>phillyjabroni</b></div><div>I would say that Hart would take over as the number one goalie over Stolarz. He is an elite prospect and is a pure baller in the CHL</div></div>
I think at this point we'd like to believe that based on his play but I think he'll need a FULL AHL season under his belt to get used to the pace. Also, Stolarz has improved EVERY year and that is a trend you want to see in a young keeper. I think Hart in this lineup makes sense based on the progression history of the players.
Would love to have Hart be the next Bobvrovsky.... but it's still such an unknown.

3-Way Shuffle (Edm / Philly / Habs)
Flyers wouldn't be after a RW in Eberle. So I don't think that would work. He'd need 2nd line minutes to be effective... he wouldn't get that here.
Coots is a center every team has on the cup winning teams - I'm still way to high on him... haha, I"m a little bias.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>phillyjabroni</b></div><div>I think that if the Flyers <strong>trade Giroux, its going to be for top forward prospects, not another defenseman</strong>. There is also <strong>no way that COL accepts that deal based purely on the fact that they are going to take Patrick with their pick.</strong></div></div>
1. The only reason that trade is made is for Duchene and the Schenn deal - Duchene is better 5v5 and a better skater, more speed. So therefore, trading for that top pair RHD DOES work in this layout.
2. Why?

Okay, he can PK. THAT is it.... THAT is it.
He is in the bottom when it comes to production in NHL 5v5.... let that sink in for a minute. He can't win a draw as a 4th line C. VERY replaceable. I love him as a person, just not as a player on my Flyers team. He has an extension and a raise...

I like that trade as well. I've been toying with the idea of a trade involving <strong>Landeskog and Duchene for Schenn, Couturier, and Gostisbehere</strong>, as the main pieces. I like the idea of them making a blockbuster trade with Colorado that has the potential to help both clubs.
I think Sharp is a good fit for Colorado as well.
I've already advised against Oshie for them. He seems like a player that can fit into a good lineup and carry his own weight, but not one that is going to particularly elevate those around him.
It might make sense to trade Zadorov's rights for the inside track in negotiations with one of those free agents if you don't intend to keep him. Maybe take a shot at the rights to Sharp and Nichushkin from Dallas. See if he's interested in returning to the NHL with a different team. If not add a prospect or pick.</div></div>
No thanks for that.

MTL would have to add to that Flyers trade b/c Giroux. Galy MAY be something great but he isn't there yet, so gamble from the Flyers to do it straight across.

Fixing Colorado... is that a thing?
Thanks for the responses, I don't know the Avs that well....
I tired to make piece meal from what was out there...
Tough to do when there aren't so many options. Given the Avs season it may be hard to find that VET guidance. I think Sharp for a year or two would be a good fit as well. Kulikov on the backend CAN get that puck up the ice.
As stated I can understand the coach wanting to deploy a certain 'way of playing' but tough to do when you don't have the personnel.
On another forum (Flyers) have talked about Duchene/Landy type deal. I'll play with that this morning as I"m home sick :(

17/18 - Trading Schenn
Help the Isles???? A div rival? Giving away a 1st line point production forward for a softer fwd who has issues with his skating?
Love Hamonics game but with our D up and coming, this is a lateral move. Who in our system or via free agent near Schenns age will fill his scoring ?
Doesn't make sense.
If we are going after a RHD I'd rather it be a team that isn't a rival, esp at the expense of Schenn - no real huge issue with trading him but def not to the Isles.

Yeah easier said then done.....
Davidson wouldn't be added because you really <em>want</em> him...its to help out our cap since we're not giving you anything of big cap going back. Not many teams can take on a 5m+ contract without giving a little back. He can be sent to the minors if anything.
The goal of the trade was to give you something you wanted while not giving you a huge chunk of salary back either. I'm not doing that for nothing. If we're going to add a 1st and or better prospects like Hudon etc, we'll need to give back salary like a Plekanec or an Emelin, etc.
<strong>Habs are taking 5 years of 5M+ contract off your hands and in the hockey world that is a big talking point in a trade.</strong></div></div>
IT would be if that player WAS a cap dump, Schenn isn't that... moot point.

Trade offer: Schenn
I think any trade for Schenn HAS to include a 1st round pick for sure as he produces like a 1st line player.
Fucale isn't appealing since we have quite a good crop of G now - and I'm not sure Fucale would be the best if he were to come over. He certainly doesn't tear up the AHL at all, struggled.... ECHL this year....
You'd need a piece that can step in and play right away.
I'll say something like:
Lehkonen/Scherbak + Byron + 1st
All that being said, I am not sure we make good trade partners. Altho I'd love for Byron and Giroux to play with one another again.

17/18 Duchene
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>DirtyDangles</b></div><div>*facepalm*
My Toews comparison is showing what an actually talented 2 way player can do, Couts is all defence. The reason Toews gets so many O zone starts is because he is offensively gifted. Opposite is true for Couts, he isn't talented enough offensively to warrant o zone starts.</div></div>
The issue remains.
Can you show how he is better offensively ?
I can show you how Coots and Toews are VERY close 5v5, that takes into account the zone starts as they are..... just imagine in an alternate world Coots got those O zone starts..... wow... he might be able to produce offensively. Instead of always starting in his own zone to create..... imagine....
I would bet that if Toews was given the assignments Coots had had in his career his numbers wouldn't be as good as they are right now. They'd be down in production (as they would for just about ANY player in the NHL)....but someone like yourself knows that.... I mean, look at how much thought and depth you've shown here.
