Those trades aren't up to value....Car is not giving away Slavin...if you wanted Slavin....Mantha or larkin would get the conversation started...

Yeah the only young D man that Detroit's getting from Carolina with Nyquist involved would be Haydn Fleury that's about it.

I can see adding different draft picks in but I am not going to trade mantha or larkin, both slavin and nyquist are fourth round picks, and nyquist is good for 10 -20 goals and be a 40-50 point player and is a top two line player, and he played well under there current coach when he was an assistant under babcock, and Carolina is loaded with good young defensemen in the ahl and nhl.

Yes you are right with your assessment that Nyquist is a complimentary player not a star player...Slavin has arguably been Carolina's best defenseman. The value is not close regardless of where they were taken in the draft.

As a neutral observer, Slavin and Pesce might be the two best Dman bargains in the NHL. Still upside to their game. Apparently if the Canes had even decent goaltending this year, this would be in the playoff hunt.
