aha.
But IMO Oilers would have to give up a lot more.

Actually really like this trade. Don't love retaining salary (mainly because I'm so used to cap-hell from Holmgrom) but the basis of a Giroux - RNH swap seems to help both teams.

I'd be happy with them doing Giroux (No $) & Neuvy for RNH.

Just RNH? No Nurse or pick?

Giroux can net you like 10 of RNH's.

Yeah no way the flyers would do a G for RNH straight up. Maybe if you did eberle and RNH but idk if that's fair. Honestly they'd probably rather give G and picks/prospects for Draisital but we all know that's not happening either..

I'm just really low on Giroux. Great powerplay guy but the only flyers he's outscoring (p/60) at evens is the 4th line and Weise... lol. RNH is having a down year and has still done more.

Going on 30, declining, big cap hit w/ term. I'd rather get just RNH now if that means you're not strapped with him and that contract at 32.

Losing short-term value but in the long-term it'd be worth it.

I'm sorry but "Flyers fans" that suggest trading Giroux is the key to future success shouldn't really be speaking. Though Hextall should be smarter than that so they're going to be fine. But if you think about it, Landy and Duchene are going to get you a high-end prospect, a first and another piece. Think about that, then think about what Giroux can get you. Yes, that much more. Granted you have to factor in age and what not but if you get the gist then that's good.

I remember seeing this comparison before the season started...

Scoring leaders over past 5 years:
367 Giroux
366 Crosby
360 Kane
352 Ovechkin
351 Benn
350 Tavares
342 Malkin

IMO Giroux is a guy you live or die with. Franchise players should just never be traded. If they are pending UFA's and won't resign then fine but otherwise keep him. I guarantee once he's gone you'll miss him. One of the most consistent PT producers out there and even then you wouldn't get fair value for him for all the reasons you mentioned why you want to get rid of him.
