JVR Fits perfectly into the Capitals Window. His contract costs them as much as 4th liner Tom Wilson. Yes its only 2 playoffs years but this is the Caps best time to win for the foreseeable future.
Toronto gets cap back, a right handed defensive prospect, a weak 1st round pick and one of their plethora of goalies. I would prefer we get back Samsonov but I doubt they trade him.
I'm not even sure I like the trade from Toronto's perspective but I'm curious to hear your thoughts. Is this what Toronto wants? Does Washington want to part with so many pieces?
That would be a cool deal for the Caps, but I think they need a RW more than a left. I don't think they can re-sign Oshie, so then next year the right side looks awfully weak.
I'm not sure...I don't mind the deal but that's mostly because I have always wanted Wilson in blue...perhaps another piece going to Toronto as well...

I always wanted JVR. He would fit in real well with the Caps. I would never give up Samsonov so I'm glad you went with Vanecek.
Is there anything else Washington would be willing to throw in? I mean TOR is getting a good 4th liner, a hit or miss goalie (potentially WAS 4th best goalie), a B Defense prospect and the 31st pick in an awful draft.
To keep it in perspective that pick will be 25-30. Wilson is too similar to Sosh/Martin IMO for them to stretch for him. Bowey would be the major piece but in that case I think JVR would be closer to fetching Theodore. I think its a good deal though, I might not even include Wilson or Vanecek, maybe rather a 2nd?
The only thing that makes Washington hesitate is giving up Bowey. He's our only good right shot dman in the system, which would make Maclellan reluctant to trade him. If we were moving Siegenthaler or even Johansen instead, they'd do it in a hearbeat. Other than that, I like it a lot. JVR is a huge Wilson upgrade and for essentially the same price.
