One year of Hertle isn't worth Gallagher and Kotkaniemi

As a massive Gallagher fan, I’m taking that every single day of the week.

The sharks should take that of course, but not sure that's the right move for Montreal.

I'd never do this unless there's an agreement for him to re-sign

You don't do it even if he does resign. I like the idea of trsding Gallagher simply because of his cap and the depth they have at RW. But you don't trade a 20 year center who could be an absolute stud in the near future

If this trade means I get to have Hertl and Forsberg instead KK and Gally, i won't lose sleep about losing KK. MTL has to go for it NOW cause Price doesn't have many yrs left to wait for KK to become a stud.

You're overvaluing Hertl though. He isn't worth that package. I'd do the Forsberg one in a heartbeat if you remove Norlinder and add Brook or Struble instead.

The only knock on Hertl IMO is he's never played all 82 games in a season but he has become close to a ppg player. If you think I'm over valuing him then I'll just keep the 2nd rnd pick I gave them and maybe have another mid-late pick coming back to me.

No way I'm giving up Struble. His size and strength will be needed in the playoffs. I'll give Brook if I have to since Weber and Petry on RD will be here for a while and Fleury is ahead in his development.

I never said Hertl wasn't good, just not worth that package. A ton of fans are undervaluing KK's worth and are only judging him on his producting as a teenager. He alone is probably worth more then Hertl in terms of trade value. And Struble and Brook are both decent prospects but they are both a step behind Norlinder in terms of ceiling.

Kotkaniemi is part of the young core, you take him away and all of a sudden your youth core takes a big hit. Don't overvalue this playoff run and start trading their youth.

I think you think the real Habs is the team we saw in the regular season. Nope this playoff version is closer to the real Habs. Hertl isn't a dinosaur he's in his prime and probably got another 4-5 yrs till he starts dropping off. Why wait another 4 yrs for KK to get to Hertl's level? Might as well beg Price to waive his NMC in order for Seattle to draft him. We're not in rebuilding mode anymore. MB made it clear with all the acquisition he made throught the season that we're going for it. TB might mop the floor with us but after this run we are on every UFA's radar and finaly we'll be at the top of their lists in free agency. We don't even have to worry about drafting in the top 10 anymore, we'll be able to draft wherever we end up drafting and reaaaly take our time developing prospects instead of rushing them. I love KK but right now his potential isn't enough for SJ to trade him 1 for 1 for Hertl. Just acquiring KK shows to Burns and Karlsson that SJ is rebuilding. They wont be happy, but by adding Gally shows that they're retooling. Hertl, Suzuki, Danault, Poehling is SOLID C depth for the next 5 yrs. Norlinder is a smurf he won't be able to grind out NHL playoffs. Romanov, Ghule and Struble are more ideal for playoff runs... on paper

Poor asset management if you think Hertl is worth that, its not even a short term improvement. And you have a chance to get absolutely destroyed in this deak if KK reaches his potential, which is higher than what Hertl will ever give. And the Habs have a chance to have a sustained cup window if you build around Suzuki, Caufield, KK, Romanov, Guhle, Norlinder, Mysak, Tuch, Farrell, Poehling, etc. So don't start getting rid of the youth and 1st round draft picks. Thats how you get into sustained losing seasons and mediocrity. Now of you offer them Gally and a first for Hertl that would make a lot more sense. Have Suzuki, KK, Hertl and Poehling down the middle. All 4 responsible in their own end and can all supply offense.

Na I don't see KK being more than a ppg player in his prime. But like I said perhaps we can get more in return for that package than what I originally posted.
