Why does Boston do this? We have enough young inexperienced LHD and Holtby was one of the worst goalies in the NHL last year.

Debrusk has much less value than Boston fans think. Not saying this is the right deal. But Debrusk is coming off a 5goal season, has a 3,675,000 cap hit but is owed 4,850,000 in actual cash, and his qualifying offer is 4,410,000 the following season. That is significant risk for a team to take on. If Debrusk has another down season then he is likely left unqualified and becomes a UFA.
