As someone who doesn't really follow the Panthers, was signing Spencer Knight really something that was in question? I get the Bob contract being an obstacle, especially with Driedger's play this year. But I never was over here thinking "There's no way the Panther's sign Spencer." If that makes sense?

i am happy that he didn't opt to continue college and go to free agency after 4 years

You guys are silly to think that he's ready to play in the NHL. He needs to play another year in college and then about 4 in the AHL.

I think Driedger is on to bigger better things after this year.

Ah, I see. That's a thought process that makes sense. I'm a Kings fan and that's how we got Cal Peterson.

Cool, thanks for the response. Congrats on the signing. He should be fun to watch in the NHL once he gets there.

After next season it’ll be a buyout. 5m for 3 years and 2M for 3 years.. something like that

There is 5 years at 10 million left. on a buyout you owe 2/3 of the contract over double the time. That would be like 5x 3 years + 3.05 x 6Years.

So if he has 4 years left(after next season) it looks like 6m(ish) x 4 years then 2m(ish)for 4 years.. might take an extra year for knight and then it’s 3+3
