If you can afford it (and Canucks can, once Ferland is on LTIR) then you should create that depth for this upcoming condensed and covid-affected season.

Also need to carefully consider who gets waived to go on the taxi squad, because MacEwen and Chatfield are both at risk of being picked up off waivers if put on taxi squad.

I like your main 12F + 6D + 2G. But I would have the following extras:
13th F = MacEwen
14th F = Hawryluk
7th D = Chatfield

Waived to taxi squad: Baertschi, Bailey, Michaelis, Benn, Rafferty, Kielly

Waived to Utica: Eriksson

The lineup I posted is based on who Coach Green has been playing in practice ( I screwed up, Hoglander should be right wing with Horvat). I didn't know taxi squad players had to be waived, thanks. If claimed does the player have to go on the active roster or can the claiming team put them on their taxi squad? I don't think too many teams at this stage of the game: many with their own cap issues, will be claiming 4th liners and 8th Defenseman. Benn has been playing with Hughes in practice until Hamonic is cleared to play on Sunday. Reports say Benn will be the 7th Defenseman because Green doesn't want to have two rookie defensemen in the starting 7. I would rather put Benn on the Taxi squad but I'm not the coach. So far Rafferty has been slotted ahead of Chatfield in practice. The 3.1 mil in cap space is a good thing, it would allow us to either pickup someone off waivers, sign Podkolzin in April, give us room to get a player from a Cap strapped team like we did with Schmidt, or pickup someone to fill a hole at the trading deadline. So far Eriksson and Mac are the 13th and 14th forwards in practice. That is why I expected them to be put on the taxi squad.
