You claim you’ve watched zads and also make a 1st pair statement,.,if you’ve watched him lots like you said then you would know that’s not even close to being true so your claims aren’t adding up

Hes been a mediocre 3rd pairing defenseman who's ok defensively, hopeless offensively and a very weak puck mover. He'll most likely be overpaid this offseason, that's something the leafs cant afford to do for a 3rd pair defenseman. Dermott is far better and way cheaper

To all leaf fans:

You can't dump Freddy and get a good return...not this year...

Holtby, Crawford, Lehner, Markstrom, Greiss, Khudobin, and more are all available as UFA... Lundqvist likely after a buy out.. you will need to pay a team in picks/prospects to bail you out unless you retain salary.. Also, getting rid of the guy who keeps your team in the game most of the time isn't the answer. His 1.84 GAA in the play-in round isn't why they got knocked out. those are the numbers he gives you when properly rested. OH and add Murray to that long list of available goalies

Again you haven’t watched him, yet you claimed you do, actually a lot from what you agreed to

Who cares about dermott. Never brought him up or have I pumped zads up saying he’s some stud

This is just proving what I asked, do you just claim things and hope people don’t notice. Which you clearly do

I'm confused here. I find it very interesting that you seem to somehow know if I do or dont watch which I can guarantee you dont.

I also dont know what you think I'm just making up because I'm not

I didn’t put him in the first pairing but I guarantee I’ve watched him a lot, more than you. I know that when he is engaged and give a specific roll particularly against the opposing teams top player he has a tendency to raise to the occasion because he is big, strong and skate. I know when he isn’t engaged he has a tendency to play flat footed and rely on his sheer size and gets caught out of position. In a 10 game stretch 4 games he will look like an All Star, 2 games he will look good, 2 games he will look average, 1 game he will be invisible and 1 game will be wth. I also know that with the above D Corp he is easily the 3rd best dman. And what stats look rough? He is shot and xg neutral even though he is primarily taking dzone assignments.

You made a claim that he gets played 1st pair...which he doesnt, that is why you are just winging this and not watching him at all....if you watched him as much as you agreed to that you did, then you would know thats false

What are you doing..you are quickly looking up his underlying numbers making snap judgments based off it so you can comment on this thread, but actually haven't watched him or spent the time to actually understand what those numbers are saying in context of his deployment, situations, etc etc.

this is why you just come off as a guy who throws stuff against the wall and see if it sticks and people dont notice

I said hes a 3rd pair defenseman, the other guy who made the thread was the one who has him on the 1st pair with Rielly

You said you watched him a lot...which you would know your statement of " seem to have placed him on a 1st pair" is from you like I said, pulling up his numbers quickly and making a snap judgment off it. Thats the point. YOU claimed to watch him a lot, which cant be true.... If you did you wouldnt have ever thought that based on what, looking at his quality of competition?

My bad I read it wrong, I thought it said you were the thread starter but it was the other guy. Is offensive xG is quite weak and generally I dont think getting strictly defensive defensemen for 3rd pairings is good asset management when they are pretty much only going to face bottom competition who arent that hard to shut down anyways. I'd rather have depth guys who are able to contribute offensively.

In his time up the lineup his xGA has dropped dramatically. Hes never been a good puck mover, I like his ability to force dump ins and defend the neutral zone but as he moves up the lineup he'll face more skilled guys who are way faster so that will diminish. He also takes way to many penalties

Look at the lines. Below the forwards, Left Defense, Right Defense and Goaltender is listed. At 1st pair LD is Morgan Rielly and go look who is put at 1st pair RD. I specifically said

You said that to an avs fan, not to the roster creator. It made it sound like you claiming the avs played him on the 1st pair
