Ullmark’s got some decent numbers in Buffalo .915% and 2.69 gaa last year in 34 games played. Then .919% and 2.44 gaa this year albeit in 12 games played. These numbers are actually quite similar to Lehner’s before he left Buffalo for the Islanders and broke out. Anyone’s number are bound to be better outside of Buffalo.
I don’t think the Leafs can afford a clear cut starter and keep Hyman too. I’d be fine with running the hot hand in this tandem.

That’s fair, you could always move McCann to center and AA to the wing.
I feel like duclair and AA fit Rutherfords mindset of getting younger more so than Haula.

Low maintenance, depth scoring is what helps you win. Craig Smith is a given for 20 goals yearly with little to no power play time. All 31 teams in the NHL should want a player like Criag Smith IMO

I agree that’s why I made the trade for the Leafs. Here’s what I imagine goes through Rutherfords head - “Who Engvall?”

If Johnsson is a cap dump then Anderson is just as much one as he played even less games than Johnsson last season. Anderson just gets the benefit of doubt because he bigger. Nutivaara was also plagued with injuries last season and shouldn't hold much value at 2.7 million annually.

There’s no way this team is worst. Craig Smith is a yearly 20 goal scorer, Bobby Ryan has potential to be a 15-20 goal scorer, Josh Leivo is very underrated but suffered a season ending injury last year and Greiss is a significant upgrade on Reimer but also doesn’t block Askarov if the Canes draft him in the first round.

If they go after Pietrangelo like rumored this trade would open up about 2.7 mil in cap space and get them a better starting goalie

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Ritzy</b></div><div>1. Edmonton doesn't make that trade.
2. He doesn't sign a 3 year deal less than his ELC.</div></div>
Those are fair statements but I'm not sure a team would offer much better in a trade. No team is going to trade a 1st round pick for Puljujari and Johnsson is about equal value to a 2nd round pick but can contribute immediately. Plus, Edmonton is hurting for top 6/top 9 wingers especially on the left side. They currently have Yamamoto, Kassian, Archibald and Chiasson on the right side with only really Nugent-Hopkins and Neal on the left so moving Puljujarvi for a left winger that can step into the LW2 position would be huge for Edmonton.

I don't see where this team is any worst that last years. The only area where it could be worse is goaltending but between Talbot, Campbell and Ingram they should be able to string together some decent starts.

What kind of deal will Holtby get with so many goalies available
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>BeterChiarelli</b></div><div>I think a short-term deal coming in between $3.5M and $4M is going to be most likely. Holtby hasn't been good enough to earn a long-term deal, and the flat cap makes it hard for a team to overpay for him. A shorter deal to either re-establish his good name or to get beyond the flat cap era and cash in is probably best for all parties involved.</div></div>
Hypothetically, could a 2 year $4mil aav deal with the leafs make sense if the leafs were to move Andersen for other assets?
Also while he won’t be young, he’ll still only be 32 when he’s eligible to sign another contact, therefore young enough for a team to commit a decent amount of money.
No better place to improve your value (if you play well) than under the microscope in Toronto.
