1. Edmonton doesn't make that trade.

2. He doesn't sign a 3 year deal less than his ELC.

Those are fair statements but I'm not sure a team would offer much better in a trade. No team is going to trade a 1st round pick for Puljujari and Johnsson is about equal value to a 2nd round pick but can contribute immediately. Plus, Edmonton is hurting for top 6/top 9 wingers especially on the left side. They currently have Yamamoto, Kassian, Archibald and Chiasson on the right side with only really Nugent-Hopkins and Neal on the left so moving Puljujarvi for a left winger that can step into the LW2 position would be huge for Edmonton.

Johnsson was absolutely trash in that role in 2019-20, not sure anyone would give up any decent assets for him right now. And he's overpaid, too. JP likely signs a 2 year, $1.2M deal and provides more than 3 5v5 goals while playing with a superstar center for over half a season.
