the only one that wouldnt make sense is the edmonton one. Youre forgetting though, anaheim would want a first to take loui too, they know you need to dump him. You taking back backes and kesler does nothing for them

Well, I worked it out and overall it saves them roughly 3M in salary. Benning isn't gonna trade picks/prospects to remove cap, he already stated that yesterday. Teams that aren't competitive playoff teams and are entering a rebuild are going to want to save money if their team isn't good, especially considering the current economy. Maybe the Canucks sweeten it in some aspect but I see it playing out in swapping some combination of bad contracts. Same with the Edmonton trade, the Oilers need forward depth and the Canucks need defensive depth. Both achieve that while the Canucks save a little bit of cap.

I mean i guess but i still think there going to have to be either a package deal with a young player like virtanen+ a bad contract then. Benning might not want to move capital but he might not have a choice.
