He's also so very 2012
He's old, but he has been better this year and last year than then back then. His work in his own end is most impressive. He was awful on the PP, which no longer is a concern due to the team filling out beneath him.

It is terrible Value. Mikheyev looks like a Hyman 2.0 (who is THE most undervalued Leaf by far). No way are we moving him for an overpaid waiver player and a rapidly declining Dman who is Left handed. Mik is also expansion draft exempt.
That would be a Fleecing.
To be fair, I don't know exactly what Mikheyev's value is. But Edler at 4.5M is definitely not an over payment. Whenever Edler is injured/out of our lineup, it shows on our record. He is a defensive stud and definitely our best defenseman (Hughes will overtake him soon, but Hughes is not strong enough defensively for me to give that nod yet)
We had no choice but to give Edler $6M. It was either give him too much short term, or deal with a NMC for the Seattle expansion draft. For what he provides for those two years, you won't find a canuck fan that labels him overpaid.
Edler, retained this much, should get about a pair of 2nds. Martinez to compare.
Fortunately though, he isn't going to be traded so we don't need to discuss his value with much legitimacy.
