I like the thought with marleau, but he has a no movement clause. He would have to approve, and no way he's wasting his potential last year in the NHL on Detroit.

The point is he would agree knowing he would get bought out and resigned...

I don't think the league will allow it. It's pretty similar to the whole Orpik debacle last year, which they were not happy about. It's technically cap circumvention even if every part is happy (Detroit gets picks, Toronto saves cap, and Marleau earns more money).

Yeah, I hate those win/win/win situations too. The only answer to that kinda creativity is to crack down on it and kill all the fun...which, I agree with you, the leauge likely would do just that
