McNeil - most players who go past their ELC but have never graduated to the NHL will not receive a raise on their next contract. I don't know much about Petrovic except that he has had concussion issues and played a sheltered 3rd pairing role (which I'm unsure the Hawks need).

I gotta think Shaw get's more in return if he traded as RFA. Really think the Leafs would have an interest and the Leafs do have young prospects that could interest Hawks. Might be other teams also but the reason the Hawks can't afford Shaw (possibly) is not enough cap room, so I doubt that the Hawks want money back.
