        Dallas says no.

Originally, I wrote that discussion for the rights to Nichuskin would have to include Gardiner; but I take it back.
Unless you're giving up Nylander, Dallas passes. Nuke is only 21, and they won't give up on him yet.

The rebuilt seems to have gone away, looks like Burke is back as GM Stepaniuk, Campbell, even Yak instead of Brown, Leivo, . Leafs need Dman and Carrick fits to the bill not Yak. Gee looking at Kapanen as a 19 year old I wouldn't trade him for Nichuskin.

1st off, Stempniak on a 1 year contract is exactly the type of deal the leafs signed many of last off season with the intention of flipping them at the deadline, this deal is perfect and he can move up the depth chart if any of the kids don't perform. 2nd, we need a solid veteran defenseman and Campbell fits the bill, with the hole I created with Gardiner he fits in perfectly. 3rd, your argument of "Stepaniuk" (I assume Stempniak) and Campbell over Brown and Leivo is odd because thats a defenseman and forward over two forwards. 4th, the leafs will not start the season with four rookie forwards in their lineup (yes, Nylander is still a rookie), 5th the leafs were the lowest scoring team in the NHL, they could use offense and Carrick is a good trading piece to acquire offense (he is the same age as Yakupov so I don't understand this whole "give up on youth" stance that you're taking. 6th, Kapanen is one of many small forwards in the Leafs system, the trade for Nichushkin adds size to the Leafs lineup which is desperately needed. Anything else you have to say?

Trading Kapanen is such a leafy move. Just gonna be another trade that people will regret 10 years from now like Steen, Stralman, Rask, etc. Pretty sure even Nonis wouldn't do trades like this.

If Barrie was willing to sign a long term deal for unde $6M the Avalanche wouldn't be considering shopping him because he's too expensive. He'll cost more both in trade and cap space than you've given up here
