My 18th try at the Leafs

Created by: americanandian
Team: 2016-17 Toronto Maple Leafs
Initial Creation Date: May 13, 2016
Published: May 13, 2016
Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Description
The big trade here is obviously the 1st OA going to Arizona. Before anyone says "Arizona said they won't trade OEL for the first" please check your facts. Don Maloney said he would not trade the OEL for the 1st, he has since been fired. The most unlikely part of this trade is the leafs trading Kadri two months after signing a 6 year extension, but a man can dream. These trades would obviously be done at the draft and therefore the Leafs would have no knowledge of whether or not Stamkos was going to sign here. If he does not chose to sign with Toronto they would put Nylander at 1C and look at drafting a solid first line center with in 2017 because this team is primed for a second straight last place finish.

It doesn't even seem like you tried to make the trades even. TOR makes out like bandits on each one.

You forgot to mention the 31st pick going to the wings and the leafs taking the Datsyuk contract.

haha ya....so? The Wings are giving up a much higher pick and one of the fastest, most promising young players in the league for a 3rd line center?

"One of the most promising young players in the league"... this is the same guy who averages 0.6 pts/gm in the AHL right? I like AA, he's fast and skilled, but you're overvaluing him, Bozak is a proven player who can put up second line numbers. The wings need a second line center if Zetterberg is going to play on Larkin's wing. Bozak for AA would be theft on Detroits part, I even it out by throwing in a 15 spot change in picks and Datsyuks contract.

A lot of moving parts on the Arizona. To avoid confusion....what would it take for the Leafs to trade Matthews and for Arizona to accept?
Datysuk is playing this year for the Wings, so his trade now unnecessary. I like Lindberg but Shaw is worth more even with 1m cap hit for two years for the Leafs.

Is there a source on Datsyuk returning?

No he didn't, he announced that he'd return to Detroit THEN he would make his decision.

ARI says no. OEL is 24 and not worth trading at his affordable cap hit. He might have the best contract in the NHL.

FYI it was ownership who has said OEL not being involved in any trade for 1st overall the same town hall as Maloney stating the very same so Maloney didn't loose his job cause he refused to trade one of the best contracts in hockey but because Arizona is modernizing it Management Style just like the leafs did last offseason.

I was never saying Maloney got fired for taking OEL off the market, I like the modernistic approach to management, I'm saying that the person who said OEL won't be moved for Matthews is no longer there. It was Maloney that said it though, not ownership.

Yes but ownership said when they read the rumour of OEL he "Spit out my coffee" though your right litterly didn't say the same thing the comment more or less suggests OEL not tradeable.
