We all know Pietrangelo fantasies to Toronto are popular because of Kyp’s comments. The deal he suggested would never move the needle for the Blues. Zaitsev is a cap dump. Kapanen is a middle 6 player at best, and the 1st round pick is going to be a late 1st. There’s just no way Pietrangelo is moved for that kind of package.

Blues are in dire need of a rebuild. I’d be extremely dubious Pietrangelo will be resigning, and St. Louis needs to shake up their team. The trade here I’d actually say is an overpay. Kapanen himself is worth plickspect (player/pick/prospect). He is not a ‘middle 6 at best’ player. He might be top line winger right now on a dozen teams. And will only improve in the next few years. Zaitzev IS a cap dump, but he’s not a terrible player. Just doesn’t fit on the team under the Shanaplan.

An overpay lol... so for a true #1 RHD the Blues should feel lucky to get a cap dump in Zaitsav who's signed long term,, a middle 6 guy in Kapenan who has some offensive upside but his overall game needs a lot of work, and a late 1st... I mean if you say so it must be true

Can you remember the last positive thing you said online when not talking to your own clique? You’d be happier if you could figure that out. Good luck!

But yes, a top line winger (on most teams 2nd pair at lowest) still on elc, a decent defensive 2nd pair RD, a decent D who is possibly the best D in the AHL, and a 1st round pick I consider a slight overpay for a good RD with less than 2 years left on his contract.

You're out to lunch and the vast majority of well informed hockey minds would agree. You call Pietrangelo a "good RD". Aim a little higher. He's typically thought of a top 10-15 D in the league. Zaitsev is not a decent 2nd pair RD. He's only playing 2nd pairing minutes because Toronto has no other choice. He's overpaid by a good margin and on top of that signed long term. It's not like his contract is expiring. He's a cap dump. Kapanen isn't close to being a top line winger on most teams. He's on pace for 57 points. He's a good prospect and Toronto is going to need players like him to fill the gaps after they sign Matthews & Marner. He's no top line winger on most teams.

Take off your homer Leaf glasses for a while and try to be objective.

Go look at Zaitzev’s stats. He’s not a borderline NHl player, which is what 3rd pair D are.

Kapanen is on pace for 30 goals and always has a corsi over 50%. Got many 30 goal wing scorers on 2nd or 3rd lines outside of Toronto?

Pietrangelo has had 1 year in the last 5 where he has gotten more than a single 5th place Norris vote. Last year he got a few 3rd place votes and finished with 2% of the voting. Not exactly elite. Good yes. Not top 10 in past 5 years.

I’ll stick with stats. You make yourself happy with ad hominem attacks. I hope some day you can turn a corner and have positive things make you happy instead. Cheers.

Lol so because I see things for what they are you create a straw man conversation that I’m somehow unhappy

Keep your solid 2D in Zaitsev and 30 goal scorer in Kapanen and the Blues will keep just the ok Pietrangelo because of corsi ????

A) you are welcome to think it’s not a good enough deal.

B) I never said you are unhappy, you need to learn how to read. Words matter. I said it’s unfortunate that you seem to enjoy personally attacking people. Hopefully some day you will learn to gain happiness from trying to be constructive and positive. Choice is obviously yours. Hopefully one day you will not gain pleasure from trying to make other people feel worse about themselves. May you be happy in a positive way. Adios.
