Whew, a lot of wheeling and dealing there to get the assets to acquire Trocheck. Even though the first pick is not going to be great, I don't think the blues would give up all 3 of those assets for Patches. If Florida was unwilling to give up a 1st at the deadline then I expect STL would not give up a 1st, AND two potential top 6 fwds in the offseason.

All that aside, this team could be nasty if everyone stayed healthy and played to their potential. I doubt it will be possible because Bergefail would have to win several trades to pull it off. Not to mention doing a lot of it before July 1 to convince Stastny and Perron to sign.

It wasn’t just a first MTL was getting from them. It was a first Borgstrom and Macherin. Florida was unwilling to give up Borgstrom, Pacioretty is easily worth a first round pick outside the top 10.
