I don’t think MTL takes that but it’s a good start to a rebuild......might as well trade others too

So Chicago gets 2 of the Canandiens best prospects & the 3rd overall pick for a good center that isn't worth his contract (Toews) and a cap dump (Seabrook)?

Montreal absolutely says no to this trade...

The Hawks aren't trading Toews and I don't want them to either. There will be (2) statue's outside the United Center when Toews/Kane end their careers. If either of the two get traded...it'll be Kane.

What does Chicago see in Toews? I still don't see how he got the contract he did...

There are a lot of reasons. It's VERY hard to argue his past success AND if you've followed the Hawks in detail, you'll probably remember the trade rumors around Kane BOTH more recently (few years ago) due to his personal life, but also early in his career because people didn't see him dominate the league in points for quite some time into his career. Now EVERYTHING's changed. Trading Toews is the prisoner of the moment comment because the league is getting smaller and faster and higher skilled AND he hasn't played up to par the last two years. Toews has always been a grinder that played a full 2-way game and the only year he wasn't getting Selke votes was his rookie year. You can go back to his draft day prognosis and they say exactly what were getting. 3 Cups. He's our captain. Never done anything wrong. Does ALOT of charity in the city. He is Chicago. He just means more to us than anyone else is claiming as "fair"
