I like Zuccarello a lot, but he's more of a TDL pickup than a draft day trade for MN. I also doubt whoever is the new GM wants to trade his 1st pick for a 30 y.o. rental.

Whether or not that Vesey trade works for the Jackets depends on how much Vesey is looking for for his next contract. If it's anywhere north of $1.5m, I suspect things will not work out.

namestikov can fetch a mid 1st rounder and probs a 3rd, that is a heavy overpay for moving up 4 spots in the draft maybe if that was boston/tb and a 3rd for the 5th pick it would be acceptable but not the 9th and another 1st.

If you are interested, a sports analyst created in 2016 a draft pick value chart. The late 1st +3rd make up the difference (and a very slight overpayment) between 5th and 9th. The player you get at 5 is much better (probably) than what you get at 9th (hence the difference in value). This is the link:

Good point. I only considered that Minnesota is a pretty good team and they're in cap hell; not that a new regime may want to retool.

yes I agree in most drafts their values are set but this years 1-9 are all elite potential and their placements are really all undecided and no favorites stick out other than boqvist in my eyes.

In my mind, NYR trading up has a sole purpose: to draft either Hughes or Wahlstrom. If Rangers stay at 9, they'll have to settle for Dobson, Veleno, or if he falls, Boqvist.
