Not a bad trade on the surface, and Staal would definitely be a nice pickup for the playoffs. I just don't see the Canes eating 2 million a year for 7 more years though. The could easily find a trade partner in the offseason that would take the full salary.

MAYBE IF THE CAPS GAVE THEM Samsonov? ... didn't mean to put that all in caps but too lazy to fix it now
