Think it’s giving up too much. Also, Skjei is overpaid by $1-$1.5M. Mtl is in need of a C yes, but I don’t think Hayes, Vlad, 9 and 26-29 is worth it. I kind of see Hayes or Vlad but not both.
Tell you the truth it wouldn’t be a massive shocker if that trade warrants Patches as well as their 3 bc of how much NYR is giving up.

I would strongly consider it, but I would have to be pretty positive the guy I want at #9 is going to be there.

Yeah, Montreal will just throw in their captain who normally scores 30 goals... that should even it up....

Carefully consider? I think it's a no brainer for habs fans. You get two C's under 28 years of age, move down 6 spots AND get another later 1st? No brainer. Take that deal and run.

Trade is good and imo Montreal would accept but I don’t want to trade Hayes. Instead you could take on the full contract of Alzner and make them happy that way

I think you are over-estimating the centers a bit here. Montreal has centers, we need quality centers. Trading us two 25 year old centers that have never reached 50 points and are unlikely to get much better isn't a home run for us. One of which played wing at the end of the season and while in Tampa. You may feel you are giving up huge value, but Montreal doesn't really want more borderline #2 centermen (if they are even center at this point in their career). To put it in our perspective, Drouin had the same amount of points, it was considered a complete disaster of a season. So why would we care to add two guys that can only match that?

So yeah, its not a no brainer by any means from our perspective. Rework the parts if you want, but this is a deal Montreal would have to carefully consider at best.

yah , would rather say to NYR keep NAM and will take Hayes the 9th 2018 and a first in 2020...the first 5 picks this year are NHL ready

from nyr No thanks i do want 3rd but moving down 6 spots and giving up this much no way. Maybe 2 1sts as 9th and tb 28-31 but not anymore. Hayes is a great catch and nameistkov is another top 6 forward which you can fetch 2-3 first's for both of them alone so essentially moving 4-5 1st rounders for 6 spots NO WAY.

Even if Hayes gets swapped for Zib in this scenario to add patches, I think Hayes, Vlad who are both RFAs can in essence fetch 1st rounder plus if NYR just allowed them to sign elsewhere, it’s a lot. That plus the 9, and late first is a lot. Also they have talked about moving patches at least at last season’s deadline.
Patches, 3 overall for Zib, #9, Vlad and a late first is still pushing it. Someone else said maybe add Toronto 2nd. This 100% gives Mtl the 1C they need as well as Vlad who can be 2C or 2W.

Yeah, Montreal will just throw in their captain who normally scores 30 goals... that should even it up....

I don't think Gorton would trade Zibanejad in any deal. He's too valuable and has too much upside, and the organization seems to be higher on him than Hayes at this point. Also, don't know about Pacioretty fitting in NY right now. Great player and leader of course, but I don't know if he fits in as we are currently rebuilding.

Also, I feel that this deal benefits Montreal greatly because not only will they be adding a top-six center in Hayes and top-nine winger in Namestnikov, they will also be able to select one of either Wahlstrom or Veleno 9th overall - both centermen, and potentially elite at that.

Hayes, Namestnikov, Zibanejad... all 25... all with career bests at 51 points or lower.... Montreal needs a #1 center... Rangers aren't going to provide that.

Why do the rangers value hayes higher? they have simmilar point totals and similar games played and skill
