The issue with the trade is I dont think chicago gives up 2 young defenceman I think they would have to send a young forward or something to appease ottawa up front not bad trade overall but steep to pay boqvist before you see him really play

Commit not feeling very well.

Your logic is

Trade Widely seen as Next Erik Karlsson (Boqvist) + 1st round pick in 2019+ Murphy For a player which while elite ,will put us in the next level of CAPHELL for the foreseeable future, and will do very little to help this team become contenders? I’ll take a hard pass on this one.

Stop clinging onto the idea that this team is one player away from a cup, it is multiple years away from getting to that level.

How close is the gap between Arizona and Chicago? Not that far apart, and Chicago fans shouldn't be mad. You guys had an era of success. Re-tool this thing.

Karlsson certainly would help the team make the playoffs this year, maybe contenders to come out of the West? feels like a stretch to type that. Let's face it, this season hinges on if Crow comes back, Toews & Saad figure out how to score again & Schmaltz further developing as the 2C. Karlsson doesn't matter unless those thing happen anyway.

Trading for Karlsson has always seemed like a questionable deal to do for the Blackhawks. The players/picks to get him as a one year rental would be fairly high-this trade is a top D prospect, a 1st rounder and a middle pair D. That's a lot for a rental so it only makes sense if they sign him long term. But that leads to another problem. Because if we don't like the big contracts our current players who are over 30 have, guess what, Karlsson will turn 32 before his next deal is up as well.
It seems Bowman's plan/hope has been to hit on 3 of these D-men draft picks over the last few years, push Keith/Seabs to bottom pair minutes and then figure out the other middle pair D if it's not Murphy.
