The AZ trade is a really good one. The MTL trade is fine but they will only give up the 1 2nd round pick for AA. The rest needs work. JT is not worth $12M for 7 years...if that's the market, the Hawks need to pass. $10.5m for 7 is a good number for the hawks. DuClair is WAY OVER PAID....he's $1.75M at the absolute most on a bridge deal. The guy bounces between AHL and NHL because he has a lot of work to do on positioning. Murphy or Rutta need to get moved.

Thanks for the feedback.

I prefer to overpay players in theory (which is all we do here) to prove even if overpaid contracts can work capwise. I imagine JT would come in lower, as would Duclair. Rutta is a free agent at seasons end and I expect Murphy to continue and improve upon his solid play near seasons end, so I dont see either as needing to move.

Would take a 2nd for AA.

I understand your concept of overpaying in theory, and as much as this may all be theory and for fun, you're going to get judged on the real world application of your decisions. So no need to overpay, just take a stab at what you think they are actually worth.

I think you vastly overpaid Vinnie, I don't think he sees more than 1.1-1.25, Duke could get upwards of 1.75, but I doubt beyond that. Of course I say that, and Stanbo for some reason threw Rutta 2.3, and Gus 1.2x2, so who the hell knows what he's thinking...

However, on Tavares, as much as it may be an overpay in the eyes of most, it is likely the only way to make him a Hawk in reality. Otherwise, what really motivates him to come to Chicago when he has his choice of destinations to make 10.5-11? It's still never going to happen, but if it was going to, overpay would be the only way.

To the picks, I don't think Stanbo finds value in losing two first rounders for one and Hossa's contract gone. Does he need to give up to get rid of it? Yeah, but not that much. Basically turns into "losing Ryan Hartman to lose Hossa." No bueno in my view.

Okay the Rutta contract was a bad decision. His agent came to me when I was drunk, and I thought he wanted 230,000. Much to my surprise It was actually 2.3million...At least I now know you can’t pay an nhl player less than 650k… so that’s a positive I guess. I will be much more careful I promise.
