Very very highly doubt the Rangers are going to take on an extra 3m in salary for free.

hell no, Tavares is the better player and his over payment contract ends a season earlier. Not to mention the leafs dont have to worry about any dumb suspensions with tavares

Currently 12m in cap space to resign key defensive players. Subtract 3m from that and you lose for sure one of them possibly even 2 and would force the Rangers to downgrade their bottom 6. I'll agree with you JT is better and has less time on the contract but if they move Trouba its to create cap space and to help with now while they still have a good goalie.
