Two cap dumps a scrub D and a late 1st isn't getting Necas. The money it'd take to pay the cap dumps would be enough to extend Necas anyhow.

Canes pass. You have maybe 4 pieces that Carolina might be willing to move Necas for. Suzuki, Caufield, Slafkovsky, and Montreal's 1st this year. Outside of that, Hutson is a wannabe Nikishin (very good prospect, but Nikishin is better so Hutson isn't needed) and the Canes just don't have other needs. This isn't going to even open a conversation about Necas

Well, this kinda explains the atrocious Zegras trades, because the older Necas isn't as quite good offensively but FAR better defensively . . .
