Description
My attempt at a realistic projection of the DRW offseason.

Husso/Merlikins – Win/win deal. CBJ gets out of his contract, and adds a pick. DRW get cap relief and a dice roll on a talented goalie for cheap.

Fabbri/Maata – Utah gets a 3rd line forward and 3rd pair D for their lineup for cheap that don’t need to be locked in to term. Also potential deadline flips if the season goes sideways.

Holl – Cheap buy out. Not worth spending premium assets on to move.

Ray/Seider – Don’t think either will be interested in full 8 year terms with the cap rise. 6 years for both seems like a happy medium both sides can live with.

Matt Roy – Hometown boy coming home. Self explanatory.

Kane – 50/50 shot of returning. Term seems to be the main sticking point. Assuming Kane wants 3 and Yzerman wants 2. If this is the case, I bet Yzerman relents on the extra year near July 1st to keep a point per game player in the lineup.

Duchene – Wouldn’t be my pick, but Yzerman loves a veteran with a playoff pedigree. Rounds out the top 6.

I don't mind this but I'd play Kasper on the wing his rookie season like Larkin did.

Then he moves to C in his 2nd season.

Not sure how Duchene would fit here but at least you're addressing the 2C problem.

I saw Danielson playing for Grand Rapids against Milwaukee recently and it's clear he needs a season in Grand Rapids.

I know you didn't include him just thought I'd report what I saw since he's a big part of the Red Wings future.

Mazur and Kasper look NHL ready to me.

Don't know what Yzerman thinks. 😆

I like the Duchene signing. I bet he stays in Dallas for similar money though. He would be nice as he could play wing or centre.
I personally start Kasper in Grand Rapids with him being first call up. I want him to get some time as a 1C first, that's just me though. Otherwise I would put him on the wing. Copp is a really good centre and should be playing there over Veleno or Kasper.

I'd probably start Kasper on the wing as well, but the Wings seem pretty set on him staying at center. When he got his initial call up, that is where they played him. Mazur and Kasper are both absolutely ready, but I'm bracing for one or both to get blocked by Perron.

Can probably flip Copp and Veleno in the lineup. I think Mazur is the most likely to make the opening day lineup outside of the obvious guys (Berggren, Johansson, Edvinsson). I'm half expecting Yzerman to block Kasper with someone I would have preferred they not sign (Perron), but the money may leave him no choice but to play the kids.

I'd avoid re-signing Perron but Yzerman loves the guy so yeah he'll probably be back.

I saw a player regressing rapidly but hey what do I know? 🙄

Yzerman was trained by Kenny Holland. 😬
