Description
Kings won't have much cap space to work with once signing Byfield and Spence to their bridge deals, and remaining RFAs to their QO-level deals. Most of the changes to the team will come from new coaching direction, and re-shuffling of the roster to put guys in position to do more offensively.

I have opted for some more veteran presence on the blueline, who can also move the puck and chip in offensively. Another tandem goalie is needed, someone who has experience playing ~40 games per season. Nedeljkovic had a decent rebound year in Pittsburgh on a team that isn't great defensively, he'd be my pick to see if he can continue improving before securing himself a good deal elsewhere if/when Portillo is ready to take over.

I dont think you're too far off. Your Byfield contract is too low and your Spence is too high, so those cancel each other out. If they both get bridged, I'd expect a total around there.

Can't really see OEL being the answer on the back-end, because I think the Kings have enough puck movers already. In all honesty, I don't see Spence being brought back, but thats mainly going to depend on how high of a priority Roy is to re-sign and how much he wants. I think the Kings are going to be looking for a Tanev-lite defensive guy to partner with Spence or Clarke. Whether they stick with Englund or not remains to be seen.

Ned's possible. Maybe a guy like Brossoit... but I can't see them paying a goalie 2.5mil. Just seems to go against what Blake thinks about goaltending. Cam Talbot and David Rittich were not the problem last year, in either the regular season or playoffs.

I'd be surprised to see Kaliyev back. With no new coach and no new GM to try to give him a better role, I'd be willing to bet he's played his last game in LA. Which is too bad, because a team like Pittsburgh is going to buy low, play him next to Sid or Geno, put him on the power play, and watch him score 25-30.

Fair, I think QB/Spence will be just over 8M to re-sign on 3-yr bridge deals. I am concerned about completely relying on the right side for puck movement from the blueline, it becomes very easy/predictable to cut them off and force Mikey/Gavrikov to make plays.. and they're not exactly the best skaters or passers. OEL was just someone to consider, but I think they need more than just a stay-at-home Dman on the left. Maybe even consider moving Gavy down to 3LD and bring in someone in a similar profile to Spence. Unless Roy is taking a huge discount to stay, I don't see him coming back.

Goaltending wasn't a big issue this year, but if we're changing systems like media/everyone around the team is wanting, I'm not sure you can rely on Talbs/Rittich performing at the same level. Might need a younger guy with more mobility. 3.75M on two goaltenders isnt that far off what we spent this season, considering the cap increase.

Kaliyev could very well not be a King anymore. Swap him for any other youngish player needing a change of scenery. We just wont have the cap space to make any real additions to the forward group. it'll have to be someone cheap/ on ELC
